Service was fantastic! I've never had anyone stay so diligently on top of keeping my water glass full. The fried halibut could have been better, especially for the price. It's the first time I've ever considered sending food back. But the fries it came with were incredible, the coleslaw was great, and my date's pizza was amazing. Obviously a very popular place. I would go again for sure, but I'll order something different next time. Merman in the bathroom was a little creepy, but in a funny way. Definitely an experience I would recommend!

Three guys, two small pizzas and two pitchers of Morning Wood. The start of a great night.The Mermaid pizza was our favorite, it could have been cooked a little bit longer. I would have added pineapple to the pickin pig. And when three guys ask for ranch, give us three ranches, not two.All in all a solid establishment, good atmosphere, and great service. Give her a go

My beer was flat and a little warm. Maybe that was due to the fact the barmaid poured half of it and let it sit while she served 6 or 7 other beers. I then had to remind her I was still waiting. She begrudgingly finished my pour, gave me the beer and took my order. Food was fine even if the service was decidedly not.

If you like the vibe of raw unfinished plywood And minimal effort on decor The Fat Mermaid is for you. Cute sign cute name cute idea, I guess they just stopped trying to execute it. Prices were high enough like you could have been a five star restaurant oh, but it certainly is not. You don't have a lot of choice in this town and the food was quite edible and we had no regrets it just was kind of disappointing

best beer place in rhe valdez.

We spent a pleasant, sunny Friday evening enjoying a pizza at the outdoor dining of the Fat Mermaid. The waitress was friendly, gave us tips on where to visit in Valdez and kept our drinks refilled too. The pizza was very good too. A great evening of outdoors dining in Valdez, AK.

They have some amazing fresh seafood, not over seasoned either so you can still taste the fish. Prices are very reasonable too. Highly recommend!

We've heard quite a bit about this place from the locals but the price is so high that every time we decide to go, we have changed our minds.

Have eaten here several times. Great service and an awesome patio. The French dip and fries was my favorite, until I tried the black and blue grilled chicken sandwich. So freaking good; and slightly spicy from the blackened seasoning. Most recently sampled the crab cakes and mixed green salad, and was very impressed with the quality and tastiness of the cakes, and the sauce was awesome.

Food is the best. We came for breakfast and salmon benedictine eggs are fantastic; bread, potatoes, all just fantastic. I cannot wait to come back.

I had the Calamari and Halibut, was cooked to perfection. Halibut was not to soft or to hard, it was tender and juicy. Calamari melted in your mouth, was neither chewy or rubbery. I highly recommend The Fat Mermaid.

The yellow curry was sweet. Never had sweet curry before. My friend's salad was very very sweet and rich. At least the chicken wing appetizer was great.

Nice waterfront location. Interesting blend of food on the menu. Had Korean salad that was decent. Service was a bit spotty.

Great food and drink. Burgers,beer,sandwiches. Also Great Wall paintings in the bathrooms!

Fat Mermaid was recommended for the drinks but I found the food to be good quality and healthy. The staff was adequate. Went twice and once the service was good and the other time it wasn’t.

This was my favorite restaurant in Valdez! The food is always delicious and it’s just a fun local place to enjoy a meal.The pineapple mojito was my fave too!

Calamari was very tender, and cooked perfectly. Very comfortable and quaint restaurant with a nice view.*****Second trip back, yummy pizza on the outside patio.Our server MT was a great gal to chat with.

Good beer selection. The food was good but it was a small portion of fish with a lot of fries. It seems a little over priced for what you get. The service was good. It is an overall nice place but nothing to knock your socks off. If I make it back here o would come again.
